ATOM Dominates BRCA Rd. 4

12 April 2016

Many of our Schumacher Team drivers attended the fourth round of the BRCA GT12 Championship at SWIFTS Raceway on Sunday 10th April 2016.

In qualifying, Andy Murray consistently improved over all four rounds to qualify TQ, 1.7 seconds ahead of his team mate David Gale who qualified second on the grid. Also driving the Schumacher ATOM, Jonny Aird qualified fourth, James Hart qualified fifth, Aidan Ripley lined up seventh and 13 year old Schumacher team driver Louis Parker made the A Final in tenth. A total of seven drivers qualified in the A Final with the Schumacher ATOM.

In the A final, Andy got a clean start, however Adam Catchpole tried to overtake David on the second corner, which didn’t pay off, this allowed Jonny Aird and Craig Mawson to drive through to third and fourth. A dominant Andy would then lead David and Jonny around, the three of them having a seriously close battle out front, but with Andy’s team mate David behind, it was a great final for the Schumacher team, with Jonny Aird, also driving an ATOM finishing a close third, well done!

The win here places Andy back in contention for the championship, going into the final round at Chesterfield on Sunday May 1st.
