Indoor Off Road Masters Rd5

23 February 2016

The fifth round of the Worksop Series took place this past weekend, the penultimate race of the Series!

There was huge demand to try and get a race entry for this event, possibly one of the biggest entries throughout the UK for an event in recent times. 16 full heats was the order of the day!

As always Round by round qualifying was the racing format, with the best 2 results from 4 rounds of qualifying counting towards the final position.

In 2wd Craig Collinson was trying to help his Championship chances while both Neil Cragg and Danny McGee were not at the event, due to them having other commitments.

He gave himself the best chance by taking TQ and lining up on Pole position for the A Final. He controlled the final and took the win from a hard charging James Helliwell who drove brilliant to finish in
2nd position, and Tom Cockerill finished 3rd.

The A Final 2wd result was:

1 Craig Collinson Team C
2 James Helliwell Schumacher
3 Tom Cockerill  Yokomo
4 Jonathan Skidmore VBC
5 Steven Pierce  Yokomo
6 Richard Lowe  Team C
7 Mitchell Fiddling Schumacher
8 Andrew Twigger Xray
9 Allan O Brien  Team C
10 Greg Williams Schumacher

In 4wd it was Richard Lowe who set TQ. However in the A final he just touched the track marking coming onto the main straight and this was enough for Schumacher's Greg Williams to slot his car
through the gap and take the lead. For the remainder of the race, Richard was giving lots of pressure to Greg who drove superbly well to hold on to take victory.Richard finished 2nd and Steven
Pierce finished in 3rd.

The 4wd A Final result was:

1 Greg Williams  Schumacher
2 Richard Lowe  Team C
3 Steven Pierce  Xray
4 Allan O Brien  Team C
5 Jack Neal  Schumacher
6 James Helliwell Schumacher
7 Jeff Steele  Schumacher
8 Craig Collinson Team C
9 Luke Holdsworth Team C
10 Mitchell Fiddling Schumacher

A fantastic event once again!

A huge thank you to the Worksop crew on another brilliant job.

Lots of positions still all to play for at the final round of the series, it will be great racing for sure!

The final round of this awesome Series is on Sunday 13th March, there are a few spaces remaining in both classes.

As always at the final round, there will be a trophy presentation for the Series awards and a raffle with great prizes!

Hope to see you there.
