Irish National Win

01 September 2014

This weekend was the 4th and final round of the RCCAOI Off Road Irish National Championships, held at Banbridge and District Model Car Club.  1st place in the 2wd Championship had already been secured by Mark Penney but 2nd place was up for grabs with Dylan McBurney, Michael Bolger and Denzell McBurney all in contention. During qualifying the dirt track was proving challenging with the top 5 lining up as:

1st William White – Team C
2nd Derek McCloskey – Schumacher
3rd Michael Bolger – Associated
4th Dylan McBurney – Schumacher
5th Denzell McBurney – Schumacher

The first final was frantic with everyone eager to get a good 1st result.  In the end it was a Schumacher KF 1-2 with Derek taking the win from Denzell.
The second final was heavily influenced with rain and Dylan battled hard in the conditions to overcome Michael for the win.
So the championship 2nd place was down to the Final leg.  After a rain delay the race was run on a drying track.  The lead changed several times and in the end William took the win from Michael and Dylan.

That was enough to give the Dylan the overall win on the day and 2nd in the championship.  A great result for the 16 year old, on only his second season competing and his first season in modified.
Denzell and Derek rounded out the Top 5 to make it 3 Schumacher KF’s in the top 5.

Kevin White also won 2wd Clubmans class with Schumacher!

Congratulations from all at Schumacher.
