Crazy Results in France

12 October 2012

This last weekend saw two Schumacher UK team drivers, Tom Cockerill and Lloyd Storey, travel across the channel to support the French Schumacher Team at the Coupe de France, a national level event that closes the French outdoor season. The host club, AEC, had recently re-laid the track with new astro-turf, and it was in top condition when we arrived Saturday morning.

The team put in a great performance in the 4wd, with 4 cars in the A final. Tom Cockerill took the TQ and win after some close racing with Lloyd Storey, eventually taking 2nd and new recruit to the team, Armand Lantheaume taking 3rd, completing an all Schumacher podium. Olivier de Montfumat also made the A final with his CAT SX3.

In 2wd we placed 3 SV2’s in the A final with Olivier taking a great 4th place followed by Tom and Lloyd in 5th and 6th. The team showed great pace throughout the weekend, but poor qualifying put them mid pack for the finals, unable to capitalise on the quick pace they had showed.

All in all it was a great weekend, and a very well-run event by the French. Schumacher were well represented with many drivers of all ability choosing to use the products. The track was challenging, but rewarding to get it right and led to some great racing in the finals. Definitely a track we’d like to visit again in the future.
