Another good performance for CAT SX3

14 March 2011

An excellent track had been laid out for the 4th round of the Silverstone Winter Series at Moto Arena, featuring a massive cross over/drop off section. The track gave some very close, quick racing, with just a couple of seconds covering the top drivers.

2wd was pretty open with 3 different drivers winning rounds, all driving a Cougar SV. In the end it was Tom Cockerill who took TQ, with Lloyd Storey 2nd & Dave Poulter 3rd.  The first final was extremely close, with the top 3 separated by less than 2 seconds for pretty much the whole race. A slight mistake from Tom was enough for Lloyd and Dave to sneak through in the closing minute, giving Lloyd the win, Dave 2nd and Tom 3rd.

The second leg wasn't so clean, with all 3 drivers having mistakes. Going into the last minute they were all together on the track and it was all to play for. Lloyd managed to keep it clean under pressure to take the leg win, and overall meeting with Tom finishing in 2nd and Dave 3rd.

In 4wd Tom was running the new CAT SX3 with great effect. He took TQ in dominant fashion, winning 3 out of the 4 rounds with the quickest laps of the day. In the finals he was put under pressure by Keith Robertson, but was able to keep it clean to take the win in both legs and the overall meeting.

A great result for the new car.
