Grainger Takes BRCA TC Championship

24 August 2009

Schumacher driver Chris Grainger has won the 2009 BRCA Modified Championship with a convincing TQ and win at Snetterton this weekend with his Mi4.

Beautiful sunshine all weekend enabled a straight fight for the TQ position between Chris, Andy Moore and Olly Jefferies without the weather interrupting proceedings for the first time this year.  Chris finally secured the top spot with a round win in leg 5 of the qualifiers giving him the vital pole position at the difficult to overtake Snetterton circuit.

In the supporting 10.5 Pro Stock class Lee Price dominated qualifying with his GM powered Mi4 and like Chris took the top spot, both securing new track records in the process! Lee comfortably won the first leg, but an unfortunate incident with a back marker in the second leg prevented him from capping a perfect weekend for the Mi4, ending up 3rd overall.

Chris Grainger’s domination continued in the finals winning the first one by over 7 seconds over his nearest rival Andy Moore. The second leg was not quite so comfortable with Moore pressuring hard early, but Chris was in control to finish off a perfect weekend cruising to the win in leg two with one still to go.

This perfect 100 point score was now enough for Chris to retain his British title and secure the first ever BRCA Touring car title for Schumacher, with one race still remaining.

With 4 races gone in the championship and 1 remaining the Mi4 has TQ’ed all the rounds in the modified class, three for Chris and one for Colin Price at Cotswolds, all setting new track records in the process. This is some going considering a field of European and World class drivers in the UK.

Congratulations from all at Schumacher to Chris and all the team that have been involved.
